A small to medium growing maple native to the dry Mediterranean region and so is both heat and drought tolerant. It is a small, slow-growing deciduous tree, often with multiple stems. The tight branching also lends this tree to bonsai use, where the Montpellier Maple can be easily shaped with a dense crown.
