Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa) is a large deciduous tree growing up to 30m, and sometimes in optimal conditions 50m, in height, and is one of the most massive oaks with a trunk diameter of up to 3 m. It has a very distinctive leaves with lobes separated by deep sinuses and a very prominent crown at the tip. Acorns of this species, distinguished by very deep fringed cups, are quite large for oaks.
