Canyon Live Oak (Quercus chrysolepis) is an evergreen oak from the southwestern United States down to northwestern Mexico. They are found in a great variety of habitats from dry mountainous areas on moderate to steep slopes where it thrives in infertile soils to fertile moist creek and river lines. Perhaps its most distinguishing feature is its yellow tomentum on the acorn cup hence its other name Golden Cup Oak.
