A hardy deciduous tree with attractive autumn the foliage turns varied shades of gold, orange and scarlet. This is the maple that is responsible for maple syrup however it needs a frosty cold winter climate to produce this. Best planted in well drained soil with regular watering in summer and protection from drying winds.
